Mike Randolph
AKA: "Mr. Analyst"
My
interest in diving goes back to when I saw my first episode of
“Sea Hunt” and found a new hero, Mike Nelson (“There was only
one way to do it – under water!”). But it was not until I
reached 50 that I was finally able to realize my childhood
dream of becoming a SCUBA diver. Beyond the adventure of it
though, diving, for me, is fundamentally another avenue for my
life-long passion of exploring and learning new things (maybe
That's why Blue Ocean Divers hung the “Analyzer” moniker on
me). Whether it's developing an integrated cockpit for a
special operations helicopter at Lockheed Martin, towing and
flying sailplanes over Harris Hill in Elmira, or singing
master choral works with the Binghamton Downtown Singers, the
pull for me has a constant theme – the opportunity to learn
something new. Achieving Divemaster certification and becoming
a Blue Ocean Divers staff diver is another step in that
process that I hope to continue for the rest of my life. And
my most recent certification as an Ice Diver demonstrated
again to me that there’s always something new to learn and do
(as Mike Nelson used to say) “under water”. Here’s hoping
you’ll come take that plunge into a whole new world of
experience, fun, adventure, and learning, with me and the rest
of the Blue Ocean Divers staff.
